This week, you can hear all about Zan and Jana’s exciting plans for watering their garden, as well as Australia’s winning strategy in Iraq, Jana’s fascinating experiences at the swimming pool, and more on Dogs in Space and zombies and horror.
And there are more thoughtful silences when, in Getting to Know Zan and Jana, we get to know Jana.

“I had to wipe up all the wee!” — Jana’s funniest sentence so far.

I’m sitting here laughing with the mental image of Roger Moore on a giant water tricycle chasing bad guys. Another great episode.

Hey I live in San Francisco and I’ve seen ‘Dogs in Space’ as well! I know that I’ve seen a VHS copy at Le Video in the Inner Sunset.

About introducing the show, maybe you should just talk at exactly the same time. “I’m Zan” and “I’m Jana” simultaneously. “And we are Bob’s Yer Uncle.”
Hmmmm, Man to Man with Dean Lerner. I loved DarkPlace, which I got off Bittorrent, but I’m having trouble finding this new show. I’m wondering where you get your torrents. Or will the Australian government crack down if you mention it?

Just the other day Caitlin and I were talking about how few war movies we like. If you want some recommendations, my favorites are Paths of Glory, All Quiet On The Western Front, Grand Illusion, and Dr. Strangelove, although that one probably doesn’t count.
The book is called The Zombie Survival Guide, and actually the same guy wrote World War Z, a serious book about a zombie war. Sounds like someone’s a little fixated.

Ryan,
There aren’t many people seeding Man to Man with Dean Learner, but try HERE. We’ve just watched the first episode, which was funny but not as gut-bustingly so as Darkplace, I think just because of the format.
Wait, I have to go - some guys in black uniforms and gas masks are abseiling down the side of my house and jumping through my windows.

“Abseil” is a word unknown to most Americans. Here we speak of rappelling.

But, but, why…? That really makes no sense at all.
Rappelling: from the Old French, rapeler, to recall : re-, re- + apeler, to summon
Abseiling: from the German abseilen, to descend at the end of a rope : ab, down, off; ablaut + Seil, rope

I don’t really know why. I first came across the term in Zimbabwe. The funny thing is that I assumed it was spelled “absailing” and was some sort of weird visual metaphor of sailing down cliff faces using your abdomen as the sail.
In my childhood I believed that rappelling was spelled “repelling” and had to do with the fact that on the way down, you bounced the surface of the cliff face, thus repelling yourself away from it.

On a completely unrelated note, I stumbled across this book.

Here’s a list of IMDB’s top 50 war films.

Strangely, Dr. Strangelove isn’t on it. I love that movie. The bottom rated war movie is “The Extraordinary Seaman”. Is that a war movie or a Smut Report topic?

On “30 Rock” a woman was just singing a song called “My Muffin-Top”. Uncle Bob hegemony rocks the free world!

I looked up Strangelove, and it’s labeled a “Comedy/Thriller.” Thriller? But it does have a rating of 8.7, which would put it at #2 behind Schindler’s List.

screaming jets, rather than chocolate starfish, did the crappy cover of “shivers”.
and our american cousins may recognise noah taylor as the tech support guy from “vanilla sky” (not his finest moment), or as the young david helfgott in “shine”. he was also the manager of stillwater in “almost famous”

You asked for suggestions..
How about a “Getting to know Uncle Bob” segment?
