In our second show for the week, we discuss listener contributions, sign language obscenities, beer brewing 101, Pornography: The Musical, and ask, Where’s the best place to hang a Texan flag?
Then it’s time to hear the story of Monsieur Bob, Intimate Barber, in another What Would Uncle Bob Do?

Hmmm… chopping up one long episode into two smaller ones to make it appear as if you’re more dedicated than you really are.. Yes… I’m slowly learning How To Succeed at Podcasting Without Really Trying.

The name of the beer made especially for export to hot countries in the UK you mentioned is I.P.A. (India Pale Ale). Part of IPA’s charm was that it kept well in casks during the sea voyage, so careless pub landlords in the UK also sold it as it was really robust and didn’t need delicate handling to get the best out of a keg.
It is not so easy to find in pubs now, though, being mostly replaced by lagers. We even now have lager-type beers made especially for drinking with hot spicy curry, one of the best being called Cobra.
Does any other country drink warm (room-temperature) bitter beer? Don’t laugh till you’ve tried it - it’s surprisingly good, especially in the cold season. Warmth lets the bitter’s flavour really come out. Lager beer always needs to be chilled, though, or the gas escapes and it goes all flat and horrible.

best moments for a promo. Last week, the bit about Survivor’s Battle of Religions. Either of the Wonder Twins radio plays. Perhaps the background music in the promo could be the He-Man disco song. Also, the promo should make a point of one of the biggest selling points: the accents.
On Uncle Bob’s latest story: Oh! What a relief. When I saw the phrase “intimate barber” I was imagining a man who molests you while cutting your hair.
On the two shows vs. one show format: Doesn’t matter to me. I just like my podcasts to be on a regular basis with a regular time limit so I can plan. For instance, one PennRadio episode takes me a drive to work + lunch to listen to. In fact, I exempt BYU from that rule anyway, so nevermind.

I almost fell out of my chair laughing when Zan fell off the roof. I was really happy to hear uncle bob again. I kinda like having another bobsyeruncle to listen to midweek. Good show as always.

Hi everyone,
I have a favor to ask. I’m working on a submission to Zan and Jana, but I need one of two things: a karaoke version of Chumbawamba’s “TubThumping,” aka “I Get Knocked Down,” aka “Pissing the Night Away.” OR, I need some help with a MIDI file, which I do have. The MIDI file is fine, but when I import it into what I’m working on (don’t want to give away the secret!), it’s 2x too fast. I need someone with a MIDI editor that can batch modify the file, so the eighth notes are quarter notes, quarters are half notes, and so on. I tried just changing the tempo, and while that works for simple playback, it doesn’t affect the import.
If no one can help, all is not lost; it’ll just be a lot more manual work to finish my song.
Thanks!

Hey Zan & Jana,
I’ve been meaning to mention this for a while… I know you’re south of the equator and all, but is the moon really up at 1:45PM, and the sun out about 12 hours later? ‘Course not, I’ve been to Melbourne, and Lovely Lilydale! However, that’s what your main page says, at least here in the US. No kidding!

I forgot to answer the time question and only just remembered. It’s very annoying, but the weather widget on our webpage seems to be either working off the time in the country whose weather information service it gets its information from, or just registers the time of the last local weather update, so the sun and moon icons don’t reflect the actual time. The clock underneath it is a seperate widget which accurately reflects Melbourne time, but this only draws attention to the icons being wrong.
