SPOOOOOOOOON!!!!
Yeah, I always wondered where Superman promoting “The American Way” would take him when he’s sort of an all-Earth protector.
Have you ever seen “Superman Is A Dick”? It’s hillarious and keeps growing with new covers and panels. It’s at SuperDickery.
It’s perfect material for shows like this.
Thanks for the show! Fun stuff.

Oh yeah, the narrator for the Superfriends was none other than Ted Knight from Caddyshack and the Mary Tyler Moore show.
Coincidentally, in the comic book for DC’s Justice Society of America had a character Starman aka Theodore “Ted” Knight.
Enjoyed the radio drama and all the asides, sfx, the giggling et al.
As for Aquaman, the pilot for the Smallville-esque show is showing up on torrent sites now.
I always wondered if Gleek went around the Hall of Justice humping things and flinging shit.
Enjoy your Super-Space-Naps!

Ooh! I just checked out SuperDickery, and it’s awesome. Zan and Jana will now have a lifetime supply of superhero material upon which to draw.

Hiliarious intro! I’ve only gotten about 15 minutes into the show so far, but wanted to mention I’ve never heard of this Monkey show, and probably anything where a monkey, even just in name, is a god would be considered some kind of weird blasphemy in the U.S. But I did recognize the lyrics Jana was singing because of this Flash animation called Monkey Magic, by world-reknown Flash kid Neil Cicierega, that must use its theme song.

Space Giants……Rodak is the dude, in the video from YouTube, that has the afro. He has henchmen that melt when Goldar, the giant robot with a flowing mane of golden hair, and his space family zap them with beams from the antennae growing out of their heads. The Space Family, Goldar, Silvar, and Gam are all robotic and can transform into rocket ships. Goldar, however, is the only one that looks like a robot…..the other two look like humans. All three can be called to help a little boy , who evidentally owns them, by the use of a space whistle. When blown once….Goldar flys to his aid. When blown twice…Silvar flys to his aid. When blown three times…Gam flys to his aid. High adventure and action always ensues.
Great Stuff….check it out.
As for Spectreman…..he is, to my knowledge, the first environmentally conscience superhero. Dr Gorey, the evil monkey-man bad guy, uses the earths growing waste to destroy humanity by transforming it into larger than life creatures of destruction. Spectremans alter-ego, an asian man with the name of George, must transform into Spectreman without anyone seeing or face the consequences of his creator, Overlord. Spectreman seen? Spectreman will be destroyed along with the earth. Again….high adventure and action ensue.
Enjoy.

The Space Giants robots are not actually owned by the boy with the whistle. They were created and live inside a dead volcano with the old man from another planet who created them. He harnessed the power of the volcano to produce Goldar, and that is why it’s now hollow and free of lava. What’s even cooler than Rodak are his minions the logomen who wear panty hose (and nothing else) all over their bodies. Here’s one of the youtube videos spoken of by Phibes (oh how this brings back memories):

Regarding superman and the US government wanting to kill him and at the risk of sounding like a geek, if you watch Justice League Unlimited that is one of their primary storylines. There is a secret government agency trying to defeat the superheros whilst “creating” their own loyal ones. The Justice League has moved to an orbiting space station and is like a Super UN.
On a different subject, but related, Captain America spent much of his early comic book exploits fighting the Nazis for the US Army.

On “Lois and Clark” the US government was shown to have a contingency plan in case Superman ever became a threat: a sniper with a kryptonite bullet.

Jana seemed shocked that superheroes get married. Well, for example, Superman married Lois Lane and here’s a wedding photo to prove it:

Next Jana’ll be doubting that they have to go shopping, bathe the kids, mow the lawn and paper the spare bedroom!

Loved Spectreman growing up. And yes, that theme song was durn catchy. But he was one of many environmental superheroes. Don’t know the exact chronology, but the Gamara movies were right up there with Spectreman.
Then they were followed by Gatchaman. When Gatchaman was redone in English as “Battle of the Planets,” the environmental themes were downplayed for the spacey stuff. But at least it gained Kasey Casem, and that great theme song. That other song you played reminded me a lot of the BotP theme.
