We announce a big purchase, and make a late announcement of Jana’s appearance on ‘Another Lousy Day’, a True Life Tales podcast. Zan has trouble letting go of his Commonwealth Games and ‘Where the Bloody Hell Are You?’ updates. We read some emails and play some voicemails listeners have left us out of pity (including two from the Footnote Podcast). Zan rails against the idiocy of the world again in Things that are Dumb, and Jana makes harsh judgements about the contents of other peoples’ supermarket trollies. You can see Zebulon’s French Connection ad here.
Stay tuned for next week’s show, when Zan won’t talk about Sierra Leone or Australian tourism ads!

Cheers,
Andy

They’re not gnomes, they’re pixies - can’t you tell by their voices? And if you’ve listened to the first episode to have the theme by the Magical Pixie Toy Band (#3, I think) you’ll know how harshly I treat the poor little creatures. They’re in a shoebox under the bed, huddled around the single air hole, waiting to be brought out again.

Water: standpipes & buckets are only a proposal for some people in the south east of the UK at this stage. If it rains quite a bit more then we’ll have no problems. And if last weekend was anything to go by, we’ll have whatever the opposite of a drought is!
Swearing on TV: Deadwood wasn’t on free-to-air TV in the UK - it was on satellite. O.K., for a free-to-air example then, Gordon Ramsey, the brilliant chef, uses copious hardcore swearing during his TV programmes. That isn’t bleeped out. It’s good - it makes for a much more realistic portrayal of life in commercial kitchen environment.

Liked the episode. Advertising is STUPID ..I agree. Part of the ” dumbing down ” of the world through media as a whole. I find/ know that a lot of adverts now sell concepts aside from products cause they already know the products are crap ( Axe cologne, Pepsi , any jeans..) RE stuff in a shopping cart…sadly as wages shrink worldwide..most people cannot afford ” real food ” having to opt for crap and junk food as it costs less to produce garbage with no nutrients. ( IE $ 3.50 for a loaf of whole grain bread or 75 cents for a loaf of white ) Keep up the great show…:-) ~ DR John

So that’s what happened to Kim Deal and Joey Santiago… New show! New show!
An adoring fan,
Andy.

Yeah, they’re much smaller up close than they seem from a distance. Except for Frank Black - he can’t fit in a shoebox.

You’re right, Dr John. Healthy food is a luxury. Free range chicken costs a lot.
